General-purpose AI assistants are good at producing answers. That is exactly the problem in a course: an assistant can help a student finish the work while doing the thinking the student needed to do in order to learn.
Smart Learning System is built around the opposite default. Answers are grounded in the instructor's own material, the instructor sets how directly the assistant responds, and the tool is designed to support the work of learning rather than remove it.
We work directly with instructors and learning scientists on where those boundaries should sit, and we treat that as a design question for each course rather than a setting we choose on everyone's behalf.
